The Story of Charles

Charles, born and raised in San Antonio, developed a natural talent for creativity from a young age, transitioning from drawing characters to painting.

Following his transformative undergraduate experience at Prairie View A&M University, he moved to Houston in 2022 to collaborate with Sanman. Influenced by his father's charisma, Charles creates with the intent to inspire others through intimate conversations that shape his artistic vision.

His large-scale paintings, often inspired by real-life experiences, feature stirring portraits set against vibrant blocks of color, accompanied by poetic titles. Charles's works, including intricately rendered charcoal drawings and intentionally unfinished oil paintings, reflect the incomplete nature of his subjects journeys.

Drawing inspiration from Black art pioneers like Bill Traylor and Kara Walker, his recent works feature ghostly silhouettes. Through his residency with Sanman Collective, Charles's art has been collected by numerous private collectors nationwide, with exhibitions showcasing his development and celebrating artistic rebirth.
